These two lovebirds have a deep seated love for the film Dirty Dancing, I mean who doesn’t am I right? They wanted to honor that while still having a beautiful elopement. They decided on a Mountain Lake Lodge elopement with just the immediate family present. The couple and their son. Also, the officiant because in the state of Virginia you have to have a minister or state approved officiant marry you for it to count.
We held a simple first look and then went right on down to the ceremony. It is nestled on the lake which actually had a little bit of water left in it at the time. There is a hole in the bottom of the lake and it tends to empty out and dry up every few years. The ceremony is held in the gazebo right on the water. This is also where some of the iconic dance scenes were filmed from the movie.
We found a private little place in the woods and stopped to take some portraits because it looked like the scenery was straight out of a fairy tale. This couple was just so in love it was very cute to see. Their little man was a little bored but got along just fine until it was finally dinner time. It really was a sight to see, so glad that I could be there to capture it for them!
We of course had to go up to the Mountain Lake Lodge and capture some pictures there as well. This is the iconic lodge that is in the whole film Dirty Dancing. It is made out of a beautiful hokie stone which is only found in this area. The whole Virginia Tech Campus is made out of the stone. You can find buildings made out of it sprinkled throughout the whole area.
